Similar to the iPhone Airdrop feature, WhatsApp is developing a new feature that will allow users to send files without internet access.

With Nearby exchange, a new feature that WhatsApp is working on, users will be able to exchange files with nearby devices without requiring an internet connection. This tool, which is now in beta testing for iOS and Android, intends to improve the sharing experience by simplifying the transmission of documents, images, videos, and other files—especially in places with spotty internet access. Nearby Share will provide an easy and safe method of sharing files across many platforms with end-to-end encryption, guaranteeing that only the intended receivers may access the content. This feature is similar to Apple's AirDrop.
