DUBAI: Pakistani artist Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was arrested by Dubai police on suspicion of criminal defamation, but he was later released on bail when his former manager, Salman Ahmad, filed a complaint.
Rahat was detained at Bur Police Station after being detained upon his arrival from Lahore for a musical performance. When he turned in his statement, he was set free.
Rahat did not refute the detention when he begged his supporters to disregard rumors in a video statement. In Dubai, he is joined by his brother-in-law, Bakka Burki.
Rahat and Salman have brought several lawsuits against one another in the USA, Pakistan, and Dubai, alleging breach of contract and criminal defamation. Rahat urges people not to trust false rumors regarding his arrest and refutes all of the accusations made against him.
