Butter Made From CO2, Not Cows:

Bill Gates-backed Savor, a California-based firm, has unveiled a ground-breaking substitute for animal-based butter. This novel product replicates the flavor and texture of conventional dairy butter without using cows thanks to an advanced thermochemical process that forms fat molecules from chains of carbon dioxide, hydrogen, and oxygen.
The pressing need to lessen the environmental effects of cattle production—a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions—is what spurs the development of such dairy-free substitutes. Savor wants to drastically reduce the carbon impact of its products by doing away with the use of animals in production. Compared to traditional unsalted butter, which has a carbon footprint of 2.4g CO2 equivalent per calorie, the company's butter substitute has a carbon footprint of less than 0.8g CO2 equivalent per calorie.
