A 'criminal' investigation has been opened by a UK police body over an officer's head-stampeding of a Pakistani man.

A criminal investigation has been opened by the UK's police watchdog into a video purportedly showing an officer beating and stamping on the skull of a Pakistani man named Fahir when he was being arrested at Manchester Airport. The offending officer was suspended by Greater Manchester Police. Three officers were hurt in the event, which sparked demonstrations and public indignation. Although it's unclear if the brain cyst existed before the attack, Fahir's attorney says it developed as a result of the attack. As part of the investigation, the IOPC is going over the video and will speak with the officer in person.
